http://www.amazon.com/dp/B011HVUEME/ is the latest version I think, but I have the same version linked in your shop.
I actually just bought one of these a few weeks ago https://www.amazon.com/RTL-SDR-Blog-RTL2832U-Software-Telesc...
It'll do 500k-1.7GHz, I've used it with this software (urh) as well as gnuradio, works fantastically!
Seconding this. Get their kit with the dongle and dipole antennas for VHF and UHF, plus optionally an antenna for HF. Just plug it in, make your antennas the right length for the spectrum you want to explore, and fire up SDR# or CubicSDR to see what signals are present.

For the ASD-B traffic I use the FlightAware USB dongles - https://flightaware.com/adsb/prostick/
And for the general radio, I use the RTL-SDR Blog USB dongle - https://www.amazon.com/RTL-SDR-Blog-RTL2832U-Software-Telesc...
Absolutely! These are how I got started. Just buying an RDL-SDR [1] for $20-30 will open up an amazing world of possibilities and provide dozens of hours of entertainment scanning around the waterfall listening to various transmissions.
No license needed!

I went this route last year and thought it was awesome, really enjoyed it...

Use it to pick up weather satellites with the included antenna. Can spend ~$100 more to get images from the GOES satellites. Can use it to listen to ham radio, and local repeaters. Can use it during SSTV events to get images from the ISS https://ariss-sstv.blogspot.com/
