Shouldn't be able to hurt you THAT much ...
I’ve been annoyed for the longest time that Apple in North America only sticks grounded plugs on their 1m+ power cables. Very inconvenient for travel. I don’t want to bring an extra 1m cable in my carry-on. I want the little two-prong “duck head” adapter—just with three prongs.
Turns out there’s one third party making them now! (Sadly, their jack doesn’t fold flat like the two-prong ones do, but I’m willing to take that compromise.) https://www.amazon.com/Grounded-Duckhead-Apple-Mac-Adapter/d...
I got annoyed that my MacBook case would slightly buzz when plugged in, so I worked with a factory to make these grounded Apple adapters: https://www.amazon.com/Grounded-Duckhead-Apple-Mac-Adapter/d...
They've been selling consistently to others annoyed by the problem or who want to ground their MacBook for other reasons.
Huh, my MacBook bought directly from Apple did come with a 3-prong cord, but I've seen plenty that didn't. I specifically remember having one, replacing it with a random 2-prong cord to fit into cramped outlets in high school, and my cautious friend saying "that's jank."
Ungrounded connection sometimes causes tingling, a common enough problem that this Amazon 3-prong head even mentions it in the title: https://www.amazon.com/Grounded-Duckhead-Apple-Mac-Adapter/d...
